Adamah on Campus

Empowering a joyful, resilient generation of Jewish leaders on college campuses!

WHO is Adamah on Campus for?

Adamah is empowering a joyful, resilient generation of Jewish leaders.

Adamah on Campus cultivates vibrant Jewish campus-life in deep connection with the earth, engaging thousands of college students and Jewish campus professionals across North America through Jewish environmental education, climate action, and community building.

Adamah on Campus inspires students who seek:
– Jewish community connected with the earth
– Connection to Jewish and environmental values
– Meaningful climate action
– A national network and community

Any student is welcome and encouraged to connect with us and we will help you engage in a way that feels meaningful to you!

WHAT is Adamah on Campus?

Adamah on Campus is a collection of programs and initiatives that include:

– Campus chapters that run Jewish environmental and climate-focused community programming
– Chapter Leaders Fellowship that connects, trains, and resources students to build campus chapters
– Regional and national programs and immersive experiences that build community amongst students and center nature connection and collective action as key parts of this work
– Student internships that offer professional development and leadership opportunities
– Hillel professionals support that resources and trains professionals to best support their students

WHERE does Adamah on Campus work?

Adamah on campus works on the local campus and community scale, in our regional Core Impact Hubs (NYC, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Atlanta, and Detroit), and nationally!

Chapters specifically exist across the country, through diverse university settings, and in a range of Jewish communities. A chapter might be built within a Hillel, and/or an independent registered student organization or club, and/or something else! We know that every campus is so different, so we will work with you to design and implement the best fit at yours!

Scroll down to see a list of our active chapters. Let us know if you want to be connected to an existing chapter or if you want to create and launch a new one!

HOW do chapters work?

Chapters create and lead a minimum of 2 programs per semester that integrate Jewish environmental and/or climate-focused content.

Examples of programs include:
– Leading a Tu B’Shvat Seder or Eco-Shabbat
– Phone banking or letter writing
– Volunteering at a community garden
– Hosting a workshop or training

To make these programs as meaningful as possible, we encourage you to think about how to integrate relationship building (both between students and across campus), which could include collaborating with Jewish, interfaith, and/or non-Jewish campus partners.

Every Adamah Campus Chapter has 1-2 student leaders serve on the Campus Leaders Cohort which connects virtually every month.

WHY join us?

We are in a global climate crisis, and Jewish tradition compels us to respond. In the wake of increasing climate disasters and anti-Semitism, young Jews know intimately the anxieties and challenges of growing up in a world rife with injustice and an uncertain future.

We need to connect with the earth and with each other.

We center the voices of young leaders in order to make change.

Before engaging with Adamah, I felt helpless against climate change. After getting involved in the organization, I finally had the community, resources, and support I needed to make a difference. I now feel inspired, galvanized, and empowered to fight for a better world.

Rivka, Rutgers University

Through Adamah, I’ve discovered the activism at the core of Judaism, which has not only inspired me, but connected me deeply to my Jewish history and to thousands of years of Jewish culture and learnings. For me, this connection has been one of the most powerful means of relating to and understanding my own Judaism and finding meaning in ancient texts and teachings. [I] feel like I am capable of actually changing my community and the world… I intend on using this knowledge and responsibility to improve global systems and mitigate climate change into college and throughout my career.

“In our brief, but mighty partnership, Adamah has offered Muhlenberg Hillel an invaluable national network for effective community action, education and celebration around our environment. Through Adamah’s intentional programming checklist, we’ve been able to consider broad ways to engage campus… We’re thrilled to see where our partnership with Adamah takes us!”
